If Aather were a modern day highschool we'd have to age adjust like EVERY SINGLE PERSON but! In this AU the Personae are the inexpressibly weird school staff, and all the teams are a single grade; the team groupings are actually their assigned groups for Career and Personal Planning Class, so they have to keep doing group projects together, which practically every student deeply resents.

For every class other than CAPP, most groups get split and can only meet in the hallways, because this is a Vancouver Inner City highschool AU so homeroom only meets literally once a year, and you get to choose a few classes so everyone gets shuffled into their core curriculum classes wherever they fit around those. CAPP, on the other hand, meets once a week, which means at least once a week for their entire highschool career, the students of Aather High are forced into these stupid (gemstone named, gahd, how lame!) group project teams, so there is a certain amount of forced getting to know one another.

Mau is the kid in the Sapphire group who doesn't really speak up much or overtly try to organize anyone, but just kind of quietly slips in suggestions and completed bits of work that means no matter how loudly anyone else takes over, they always somehow end up with some kind of finished product that gets a decent mark. He acts more or less completely bored the entire time, and makes appropriately sarcastic jokes about the teacher, and generally appears totally normal and unremarkable... but nobody ever accuses him of slacking for some reason.

Outside of CAPP, Mau is on the soccer team, where he plays defense well but not spectacularly. He mostly hangs out with Josh and Ven and is middlingly popular; he works at being normal and he does it well. He's not one of those kids who gets good grades without trying and is arrogant about it, but he does get good grades. Nobody knows if it's because he works really hard or is secretly a genius, because he never offers any opinion on how easy anything is. He's one of the few kids his age who has a weekend job. He takes all sciences.

Only his close friends know that he's ambitious, restless, and actually a really angry kid -- only his best friends know what happened to his family.

OKAY KEEP ADDING STUFF ON let's make this ridiculous, tell me about Apple in this setting!
