The space you are standing in is cold and grey and very still. There is nothing beneath your feet, nowhere to go. You hang for a long moment, in this place with no place, without direction or a proper sense of time, until the light dims...

...and your feet touch ground. Your eyes are closed. When you open them, you find yourself here.

He just sort of crumples, sobbing.

[sitting down in a heap, petting his hair and rocking him a little bit, making soft soothing noises]

After a minute his arms come up around you and he clings. It takes him a long time to cry himself out, jagged choking sobs trailing off into sniffs and hiccups.

He nods and gets to his feet. It's a slow stumble along the beach to a sad makeshift shelter made of branches, and he more or less falls into it when you reach it.

It's pretty clear that he made it out of debris in about fifteen minutes while exhausted.
