Yes! Ace generally likes everyone but Sand is on his radar just 'cause he was nice and invited him to Sapphire for free food and shared a bowl with him. :B He tends to like people but not in a particular way, and right now his opinion of Mau sits at A++ would eat with again. XD

5 things you want to do with Mau?

1) Get a spear! Since remembering how to fight and hunt (and getting extra paranoid over Sapphire's Curse), he is feeling pretty naked without it.

2) Start harassing the Personae for ANSWERS!1!!! in exchange for blood/sweat/tears/whatever.

3) Pitch an epic fit about Sapphire's Curse, which... I have to figure out how to orchestrate because he's most likely to do it in private but that's no fun.

4) Garden!

5) I want to get him out in a dusk or dawn post soon. This will not happen until he has a spear.

What makes Ace a fun character to play for you?

Pretty much that he's a cheerful guy! He's really different from the other two characters I'm RPing right now (not at Aather) so I really enjoy the contrast. I also get a kick out of the fact that beneath Ace's cheerful exterior lurks his unsafe side. Even if there never comes a day where it's revealed, knowing that deep down inside Ace is a terrible person will always be fun for me.

Reverse! What makes Mau fun for you to play?

He's made of rage and IDEALS and also it's fun to figure out how he is/isn't different in canon/aather, which is turning out to reflect more on interpersonal dynamics than his actual personality and voice! Which I find really interesting. Also he has a really distinct voice, which I feel like I'm constantly losing, and so I get to canon review constantly, which is awesome because I perpetually adore my canon. Also I get to ask "what is [everyday modern item]?" all the time, which I worry will get old for everybody else but IT WILL NEVER GET OLD FOR ME.

What's Ace's unsafe side, anyway? I am okay with spoilers!

Well, in canon Ace is one of the role holders, which are a small group of extremely privileged people in his world who have special roles in the 'game' that dictates their world's rules. The most relevant bit of privilege is that as a role holder Ace can kill any non-role holder (the faceless) without impunity and in fact most role holders seem to think of the faceless as interchangeable and expendable (there is a scene where Alice, who is a foreigner to Ace's world, recognizes one of the Castle of Hearts' anonymous guards and the guard asks if it's because she recognized the insignias on his uniform.). And Ace was raised from a very young age in this environment! So from that Ace has basically no compassion or empathy and in fact has a condescendingly ??? attitude towards those things, especially when people try to apply it to him. He is, probably not surprisingly, a very selfish person, too. And this isn't including the fact that Ace's particular role is executioner for the Queen of Hearts which means he's killing random people all the time for ridiculous little offenses anyway, and that doesn't include all the killing he does on the side, and he pretty much doesn't really care. And it's this bit of unsafeness that carries over to Aather!Ace, who also lacks compassion and empathy, but is just not as aware of that fact as he is in canon.

What has been the weirdest modern item to Mau so far?

...oh gosh. THERE ARE SO MANY. Probably the shower has caught his attention the most, because he spent the most time talking about it and figuring out what it was for and how it works. But then there's stuff like Mal being a SPACE COWBOY and at that point where you're talking about space ships it becomes less about "what a weird modern item" and more about "you clearly have powerful magic because you can voyage between stars!" There is just no way for him to comprehend a spaceship as being something that a person can make. He can just about get the idea of cities with huge buildings made by machines that are made by people. Barely! But yeah, the shower is neat because he is kind of starting to understand how complex things can be put together and he loves it. And he will actually get to see it! IT BOGGLES THE MIND.

What are the odds of Ace going on a KILLING SPREE in Aather?

As to your question: pretty much nonexistent!! Ace is more of a "oh you want me to kill this guy for kicking your petunias okay /decapitate" type than a "KILL ALLLL THE THINGSSSSS" type. He pretty much always kills on orders or in self defense, though he doesn't care of there's a little more collateral damage than was strictly necessary. The closest might be him taking out his anger/frustration on the person who is the source or object of that anger/frustration, but at this point Beauty and Zero would be pretty big checks on any inclinations he might one day have towards that kind of thing (unless they become a source of deep anger/frustration for him...), so maybe not.

The trees and bushes, on the other hand, are a whole other story. Who else is he supposed to sword out all his feelings on? :'D If the cavern had a training room Ace would wreck it every time he needed to vent.

How does Mau plan to go about asking Personae for answers?

His plan is to be really straightforward about and bring offerings (of himself, or food or labor) and say "I want to know these things, what do I have to do for a straight answer?" And basically pester EVERYBODY until somebody makes a deal. He'll go for wagers or sacrifice or whatever if it seems like a good idea at the time, and he'll bring little gifts, but he doesn't have a lot to bribe with, and he doesn't have anything to threaten with, so he's pretty much reduced to questing and begging and bargaining and persistence. He'll hang around the Library until he runs into Maleficent again, and otherwise will just wait for games or to run into them elsewhere.

What's Ace's relationship with Beauty like?

I have no idea what it's like on Beauty's end and in fact that is kind of irrelevant to Ace's feelings towards Beauty. I would describe it as very chivalric, the knight and his beautiful yet distant lady, but chivalric in a very informal way. Beauty pings Ace really hard as being like Alice, who I've mentioned before is an outsider to his world and also someone that all the role holders are...compelled, I guess, to like and want to love (due to canon things I won't get into here). Alice isn't in Aather, but that compulsion for Alice is still in Ace, so he tends to use Beauty a a surrogate Alice because they share a lot of traits in common: pretty women with long blonde hair who are nice and compassionate and many other things that Ace isn't. But Beauty is also Ace's superior, so he tends to translate his feelings towards Beauty-as-surrogate-Alice into wanting to be the bestest knight ever!! and is basically loyal and diligent to her and content to be dere at Beauty from afar. It's very selfish and mostly based on what he gets from her, which is a role he enjoys inhabiting (that of Beauty's ~loyal~ knight) plus approval and affection from his surrogate-Alice figure.

If you were to make Personae, what would your Persona be like?

Hm, well, logistically I'd want one who was FICKLE and had more than one side to their personality, just so I could run a wide variety of games... maybe an Agony/Ecstasy type, or Twins of Fortune type or maybe just a social-type animal based predator Persona? It could be fun to do one based on one of the wolf parents from the Jungle Book or something. Puck would also be a fun one.

But okay if I'm designing one I would do a Lord/Lady Luck, with Misfortune being the Lord and Fortune being the Lady, and they would be the two-sides-of-the-same-coin thing. They would always show up together and ALWAYS be touching, and would really be the same person, just two manifestations of a personality. And they would carry a scales between them and they'd run gambling games that you could cheat at, but they would BET ON THE RESULTS with themselves so that if Misfortune won the bet, their next game would be a trauma game, and if Fortune one the bet, then the next game would be a really lighthearted one. Also if Misfortune won they'd give out negative memories and if Fortune won they'd give out positive ones. They would think of everything as a game and interact with the players and pick favorites who they would end up discarding for a NEW FAVORITE at least once a week.

I think possibly I am cribbing this shamelessly from Malazan Tales of the Fallen but it would be super fun.

As for myself...a trickster might be fun! The type to make deals -- like, this could be a trauma game...unless x number of people agree to speak in third person/wear cute little maid outfits/be turned purple for a week. And the game wasn't even intended to be a trauma game all alone. What matters would be the Persona's entertainment. ...This would probably work with a Puck Persona, now that I think about it. Lord what fools these heroes be. :')

Orrr a Persona based on Queen Titania...? I would have to reread Midsummer's Night Dream before I figured out more than that, but I just really want to be able to use the art for Titania from the Shin Megami Tensei series because I love her design. Would kidnap people to be her attendants. Again, would be primarily interested in being entertained by her games, and could be either kind or cruel as whim took her. Might be willing to make deals with heroes, but they'd be very lopsided in her favor.

How is Mau in the face of SAPPHIRE CURSE?

Seriously pretty terrible. He is convinced that there must be a reason for it, and so he is watching very carefully for any pattern of what it might be, but he can't figure it out and so gets frustrated and feels stupid and guilty, like IF I WEREN'T SO STUPID THEN I'D HAVE FIGURED IT OUT BY NOW AND THEN PEOPLE WOULD STOP BEING TAKEN AWAY. And he hasn't been able to get any helpful answers out of the Personae -- in fact the only person who has had any theories about it is Sion, and Mau has grasped at his suggestions like THE STRAWS THAT THEY ARE (does that make any sense as a metaphor? I doubt it.)

He's not sure if Dream taking off with Glass counts as part of the curse -- at least it wasn't due to some kind of darkness attack, according to Dream -- but it still sucks, especially since when Mau asked when he would be back, Dream's response was "How does time work?" THAT IS NOT REASSURING.

Mau's coping mechanisms are also very conflicting, which doesn't help! On the one hand he is kind of becoming numb to it and just expects it to keep happening, but on the other hand he is bound and determined to fight it and so while part of him is staying detached from every new arrival, the rest of him becomes more and more rabidly obsessed with protecting them. HE'S A HEALTHY BOY. He has taken to stalking all the Sapphires daily, and now that he remembers how to fight and hunt he probably stands guard outside the cabin during dawn and dusk and whenever most people are sleeping. Glass was the one who bullied him into sleeping, so. He probably won't be sleeping much at all now. He'll pass out in front of the door for a few hours and stay standing up. 8D

What about Excel?

Not any better.

She's sorta hit her limit with this one. Glass was the teammate she got attached to right away, and the one she used to hang around the house doing chores with, and was her voice of reason. Not only is she completely emotionally unequipped to deal with losing him, she's now terrified she's going to be next.

The timing is also bad; the last memory she got was of trying to visit the girl who took care of her when she had amnesia. She is basically told that if she really cared, she wouldn't come back anymore, and she ends up agreeing that's for the best. She tries not to identify with her memories at the best of times, but she can't help but get a bad impression of herself and her interactions with others.

Fallout's coping method is pretty much avoiding people again and NEVER STOPPING MOVING EVER. Spends most of her day doing chores and obsessively, masochistically training. Comes home and reads books until she passes out. Healthy healthy coping. :U

Any app plans?

...there are a couple people I would LIKE to app but it will never happen because school 8D 8D 8D

But I would love to app Simon from Firefly although I am probably too intimidated to do it. Or maybe Wash, that's less intimidating! Kabuki from the Kabuki graphic novels would make a pretty sweet amnesiac character... or Fraser from Due South. Or heck, I have always wanted to app from Narnia.

Those are less plans and more pipedreams, though!

I've been desperately wanting to play Fire Emblem to maybe app Soren, but I can't tell if I actually want to app Soren or if it's just fully sunk in that I have no access to a Wii/Gamecube and now the only game I want to play is one I can't. Probably the latter. Nintendooooo I miss youuuu 8(

Other than that, I don't really have anyone in mind, though I do have a Persona I'm working on.

What memory are you most looking forward to getting back?

Either saving Daphne from drowning or taking his whole dead village out of the trees and burying them in the Dark Current. I want the former because he will get his "does not happen" catchphrase, which I want to stop using, and I want the latter because I am the biggest drama whore forever. I just like trauma. It is the most trauma.

What are three things you want to do with Excel?

1. Flip out at a Persona and get herself in trouble
2. Confess to Sion, get rejected, mope forever
3. Start planning the conquest of Aather

What are Mau's impressions of Judith?

She seems like she has a lot going on in there! She's perceptive and seems nice and kind of quirky, and he's looking forward to getting to know her. He's glad she seems on top of things because their latest addition before her seemed SUPER FLIGHTY and Judith seems much more grounded. This is all complicated by Sapphire Curse Guilt and worry that she will disappear, and it's compounded by his conversation with Dream, who apparently didn't know that Sapphire was getting a new person when he "borrowed" Hakkai. Mau's concerned that when Dream brings Hakkai back, he'll have to take Judith away to keep the teams even -- or that Hakkai won't be allowed to come back. So he likes Judith so far but is also :S :S how is this going to work ooouuuut.

Reverse?

Judith finds Mau the most helpful person on Sapphire so far! And appreciates that he was willing to be honest with her about why he was upset-- and to not mince words on what can happen in Aather. Judith appreciates that more over someone trying to hold her hand. At the same time, she realizes that she'll probably have to do a little more to make Sapphire feel at ease. And that's part of the reason why she wouldn't mind learning to cook from him-- besides the fact that it's something that naturally appeals to her.

She also appreciates Mau showing her around, because that's something that she likes to do: wander. She wonders what Sapphire will think of her if she wanders too much so she may-- stay a little close to home at first. BASICALLY, SHE IS TRYING TO REASSURE MAU and all of Sapphire to not worry about her. This will mostly manifest in being helpful to him. Good first impressions are important! Or... something.

Mau got kind of a positive-ambivalent impression of Naruto! He seemed friendly and straightforward, which is always a plus, but also spazzy and kind of immature. So Mau would talk to him more and be buddies, but he doesn't respect him a lot straight off the bat. He doesn't think "this guy's an idiot" or anything. He wasn't unimpressed. He just wasn't particularly impressed, either.

And yes, I'm still interested in that other reply!
