The space you are standing in is cold and grey and very still. There is nothing beneath your feet, nowhere to go. You hang for a long moment, in this place with no place, without direction or a proper sense of time, until the light dims...

It's mostly intact: a little girl, coated in grey mud, her limbs bent at odd angles. She looks like she could be related to Mau, but it's hard to tell.

It takes time and care. She's all caught up in branches and vines, but eventually you can free her and lift her down.

She looks like she was about seven, naked except for a loincloth. Her long, wavy black hair is matted with mud and salt.

The sound gets louder, slowly... something person sized is dragging something heavy out of the forest onto the sand.

He turns -- his eyes are streaming tears, but even now that you've touched him, he doesn't seem to see you. He looks puzzled for a moment, then turns away again to continue his slow progress.

He spins around this time, and drops the man's shoulders to the sand. His eyes dart around wildly, but he still can't focus on you.

His voice breaks on the word, and he stands there, breathing hard, staring all around.
